Who services my solar system now?
The most common worry we hear: "My installer is gone — is my system just scrap?" No. Your equipment was made by a manufacturer, and manufacturer warranties belong to you, not to the installer. What you need is a licensed company willing to work on systems it did not install. Brightstone does exactly that.
Brand by brand
Enphase
Microinverter systems with Enlighten monitoring. Brightstone is an Enphase certified installer — microinverter failures, gateway and monitoring problems, and system expansions are all serviceable.
SolarEdge
String inverter plus panel optimizers. Inverter failures are the classic SolarEdge service call; optimizers and monitoring are also repairable, and Brightstone is a SolarEdge certified installer.
Tesla
Powerwall batteries, Tesla solar and Wall Connector chargers. Brightstone is a Tesla certified installer and a Tesla Wall Connector approved electrician.
Qcells
Panels on a large share of Southern California roofs. Panel warranties run through Qcells; Brightstone is a Qcells certified installer and can assess output problems.
FranklinWH & SPAN
Whole-home batteries and smart panels — both serviced and installed by Brightstone as a certified installer.
Other brands
SMA, Fronius, LG, SunPower-era equipment and more: if parts or warranty paths still exist, Brightstone will tell you honestly; if a component is truly end-of-life, you will hear the replacement options and what they cost.
What to do first
- Find your paperwork if you can. The original contract lists your equipment and install date — useful for warranty claims, not required to get help.
- Note the symptoms. Error codes, app screenshots, when production changed. Photos of the inverter display help a lot.
- Call. (626) 888-7237 — describe the system and the problem; an inspection visit can be scheduled from there.

How to find out what you have
You do not need to know your equipment before calling — but if you want to look, it takes two minutes. The inverter (usually a box near your electrical panel or in the garage) has a data label with the brand, model and serial number. Your monitoring app's name is another giveaway: Enlighten means Enphase, the mySolarEdge app means SolarEdge, and the Tesla app covers Tesla systems. Panels are harder to read from the ground — their labels sit on the back — but the inverter and the app identify most systems on their own.
If the manufacturer is gone too
Sometimes the installer is not the only company that disappeared — a few equipment brands have exited the market or changed hands over the years. That narrows the options but rarely ends them. The panels themselves are usually fine and brand-agnostic; it is the failed component that needs a compatible replacement, and monitoring can usually be restored with current hardware. What an honest assessment sounds like: what can be kept, what has to be replaced, and what each path costs — before you commit to either.
The systems that show up most
String inverter systems from the 2010s boom
Thousands of Southern California systems went in between 2012 and 2020 with a single string inverter. Those inverters are now reaching the age where failures are common — and the installers who put them in are often gone. This is the classic rescue case, and it is usually very fixable.
Enphase microinverter systems
These rarely die all at once — one microinverter or the Envoy gateway fails and the rest keep working. The fix is targeted: replace the failed unit, restore reporting, transfer the Enlighten account if needed.
SolarEdge optimizer systems
Panel-level optimizers with a central inverter. Failures can be at either level, and the monitoring usually shows which — when the monitoring itself is still alive and in your name.
